International Student Ministry

The mission of the International Student Ministry is to reach the International Students of Arkansas Tech University with the grace and love of God and the ‘Good News’ of the Gospel in culturally relevant ways. Each fall, the International Cell Group hosts a ‘Welcome to America party for all international students. This group collects furniture and takes the international students to garage sales to help furnish their apartments. The group also helps students find cars to buy, get their driver’s licenses and obtain car  insurance. Once a week the cell group holds a Bible study/English class where the students are introduced to the Bible and get help with their English.  Twice monthly, the Heikkila’s host a cooking class/potluck where the students demonstrate recipes from their home countries. This is open to anyone who would like to attend. Other services have included transporting students to and from the airport, helping pregnant mothers get prenatal care, trips to the emergency room, and shopping trips. We also provide Bibles to the students in their own language and in English. It is rewarding to make friends with these students and to have the opportunity to share our faith in Jesus.

We are living in Taiwan now seeking the Lord daily on how to serve Him here. We are living in the second largest city on the Island - Kaohsiung the population is around 4 million.
The Lord planted the seed of family and relationship with a local church here about 8 years ago and He is building that relationship daily and using us to help release His love all over Taiwan.
If you would like to follow the adventures that He has for us you can check out our blog
